Dental Care

Dental Disease

Dental disease is one of the most common problems affecting dogs and cats today. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs and cats have some form of dental disease by age three. Severe dental disease does not only affect a pet’s mouth but can affect their overall health. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, inflamed gums, loose teeth, facial swelling, drooling, and trouble eating.

Klaich Reno Animal Hospital provides animal dental services for your pet. During regular examinations, your pet’s mouth and teeth will be thoroughly examined. This exam will determine if your pet needs a cleaning, or if steps can be taken at home to maintain good oral health.

Dental Cleanings

Animal dental services done at our hospital require general anesthesia in order to adequately clean the teeth and to make the procedure as pain-free as possible for your pet. Once your pet is asleep, the teeth will be cleaned by one of our experienced licensed technicians with equipment that is similar to that used by your dentist. Dental radiographs may be taken to evaluate any abnormalities that cannot be seen above the gum line. This will determine if any teeth are infected or require extraction. Please call our office to schedule an oral exam prior to scheduling your pet’s dental cleaning.
